I love the idea of baking honey for your honey buns, but there are two main issues that I always run into with honey bunks.
First, you can’t make a honey bun with honey that’s already in the pan.
That’s a serious problem because you end up with a lot of syrup inside the bun, so you’ll end up using way more syrup than you need.
Second, you end-up with a very hard honeycomb that’s hard to cut.
You can get away with cutting the bun in half to make a smaller bun, but that can be a pain in the butt, since you have to cut the bun into pieces and stuff it into the bun pan, which requires the use of a cutting board.
There are other ways to make honey, but for this recipe, I just ended up with my standard honey bun recipe, which works great, but I really like the way the honey is made and the sweetened condensed milk makes the whole thing a little bit more inviting.
