The Honey Donuts bakery in New York City is now in the process of closing after the success of its $40 million campaign.
The bakery opened last year and has become a hot spot for fans of the sweet-and-sour doughnut tradition.
But it’s also become a destination for fans and critics of the doughnut’s many flavors, with many calling it an “effing disaster.”
But a recent crowdfunding campaign has turned the restaurant into the biggest donut shop in the world.
And now, the chain is planning to open a new location in Los Angeles.
“It’s a real treat to finally have the opportunity to make a real impact in the marketplace, to bring the same passion and the same taste that we’re famous for to the world,” Honey Donut founder and CEO Alex Hynes told Business Insider.
“I think we’re going to have a pretty great summer for sure.”
Hynes was at a party last week when he learned that his Donut Doughnut Cafe had reached its goal of raising $40.5 million.
Honey Donor Donor Brian Kollman and his wife, Amanda, had raised $3.5 billion for the restaurant, and Hynes has promised to spend another $3 million on the cafe over the next two years.
But Hynes said that $40 mil raised in one day is “extraordinary,” and he hopes to expand the shop to a total of 10 locations over the coming years.
He told Business Insiders that he hopes the company can attract even more new customers with its doughnut, which can be made in-house.
“We’re a new startup in this market, and we’re definitely going to make the business bigger, and the more people that come to us, the better,” Hynes explained.
“People are always going to want a Donut Donut.”
Honey DonUT Doughnut’s new location is set to open in early 2019.
HoneyDonuts.com is currently under construction, and is expected to open by the end of 2019.
The new location will be Hynes’ third, after his first location in Brooklyn, and his second location in the United Kingdom.
Hynes hopes that his shop will be a destination where people can get a taste of the original Honey Don’tor doughnut and a new version of the Honey Donu Donuts, which he describes as a “totally new doughnut with an entirely new flavor.”
HoneyDonut.com already has a dozen locations, and he said that he plans to expand HoneyDonu Donut to the next 10 by the middle of 2020.
“This will be our next big expansion,” he said.
Hines Honey Donatoins are a blend of honey and vanilla and come in flavors like vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, vanilla ice cream, and more.
The shop will offer a range of different treats, like donuts with peanut butter cups and cupcakes with coconut, as well as desserts with buttercream frosting.
Honeydonuts will also offer a selection of baked goods, like a pie with a honey chocolate crust, and a “baked bean-and chip sandwich.”
Honeydonut Donuts will be owned by Hynes and his family.
The company will have the rights to the HoneyDonuto brand, which Hynes also owns, and will use it to sell its products.
The business will also have the right to market its products through various online channels.
HoneyDONUT will open its first location at 4200 W. 54th St. in New Orleans, Louisiana.
